La Sainte Union School workshop page

Our school is distinct because it is part of a Catholic Community and also it is an all-girls school. Our uniform is mainly green with white socks and a white shirt. In the summer, we wear opened-neck, short-sleeved shirts. Our kilt is made up of the colours yellow, red, blue, green and black. There are around 1200 pupils in our school. There are 6 forms in each year, which has a different colour tie for each class. In each class, there are about 30 girls but some have more or less than others. Our school badge is made up of the school's initials :L.S.U. At La Sainte Union, we play all types of sports. In the winter, we play Netball, Gymnastics, Dance and Trampolining. But in the summer, we play Rounders and Tennis. Our school also has lots of after-school clubs i.e. Fitness, Footall, Dance, Gymnastics, Media, Science, Technology, Netball and Basketball. For the Rivers Of The World project, our theme is the River of Life and we are studying plant life that exists in and around the river. We visited the pond in our school to collect plants and wildlife that we could draw for our ideas. Before we started etching, we drew our ideas with a pencil. Instead of doing the proper traditional etching, we used a special type of card called silver point etching card as it was a quicker process. Once we knew what to etch, we used a stanley knife. From this process, we have leanrt that to get a different tone with the ink, we can use a cross-hatching effect. Our school often go to trips to the River Thames and we have learnt that although the Thames lookS dirty, it is actually one of the cleanest rivers in the world !
